Pendulum - In Silico [2008]

The uncomfortable second album, I had it pre-ordered in the hope it would be as good as if not better than Hold Your Colour. I even listened to it over and over again for about 2 weeks trying to convince myself it was great. Unfortunately I conceded that it was not the album I thought it was going to be. Too predictable. There are the odd few decent tracks but as a whole I was disappointed, put it on the shelf and hadn’t listened to it since.
I get the sense that Pendulum made an album they thought people wanted to hear or maybe they tried too hard, whatever it didn’t work. I still think they are capable of something better, well I’ll keep telling myself that.
Only memorable track for me is Midnight Runner, one of the few songs ever that have a physical effect on me. There’s this great break in the middle where I almost suffocated myself the first time I heard it and always feel prickly as it builds up again. I could listen to that all day and not get tired of it.
